We hope to build a long-term relationship with you as stewards of your garden and estate. While our team of horticulturists focuses primarily on pruning the right way at the right time for the right plant, they can perform the following fine gardening services as well. These services are conducted on a monthly or quarterly frequency (depending on the needs of the garden) and billed on a time and material basis.

PRUNING

All shrubs and small trees (under 10’) will be selectively pruned and maintained as needed. Flowering perennials will be dead-headed or trimmed or cut back as needed in the season. Ornamental grasses shall be trimmed back in late-winter or early spring.

WEEDING

Remove weeds and debris from all planting beds / paths as needed. No chemicals will be used to kill weeds. Getting the weeds before they flower and go to seed prevents the spread of weeds. Note that woody mulches also reduces weeds in the garden.

FERTILIZING

Organic fertilizers nourish the soil by adding organic matter, including food and attractants for microbes. The soil life then creates nutrients for the plant. Young plants will be fertilized in spring as needed. Established plants may be skipped, to reduce over-growth in their foliage.

MANAGING PESTS

As and when pest control is required, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods shall be employed in maintaining the plant health. These methods will be performed only after approval from the Owner. Above photo shows a ladybug devouring an aphid.

All new plants (trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, bulbs and veggies) will be purchased only after approval from the Owner on a work order basis. All plant purchases will be invoiced to the Owner. These new plants will be installed during maintenance hours.

Please note that these above services do not include any lawn work or fall leaf removal work. Also, we do not haul debris off site. We use the client’s yard waste bins / brown paper yard waste bags provided by the client to dispose the garden debris.

We partner with our trusted contractors to provide lawn work, seasonal cleanups, and mulching.

Mercer Island Garden Stewardship – We installed this project in 2016 and since then have been involved in its stewardship every quarter. Spring and summer visits involve weeding, deadheading and mild pruning. Fall visit involves weeding and cutting back the perennials and the winter quarter involves major pruning. Being the corner property, this garden has become the pride of the neighborhood.
